Scott Demoff has been with the Redford Township Fire Department for 20 years. His passion to help people was the catalyst that drove him to pursue a career as a firefighter and currently as fire chief.
Scott says Redford has the appeal of a close-knit community, with residents who offer incredible support to their fire and police departments. He also appreciates the Township’s festivals, events and attractive parks.
Scott completed Fire Officer I, II, and III and graduated from the Macomb Fire Academy with Firefighter I and II. He received his paramedic license from Compliant EMS. In addition, he has certification in the hazmat operations level and is trained in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM). He graduated from Eastern Michigan’s Staff and Command 10-month training program in 2017 which equipped him with strong leadership and management skills for his career as Fire Chief.
During his seven years as chief, Redford Township’s fire department has celebrated some major victories and upgrades. Along with multiple brand-new vehicles and high-end equipment purchases, the department proudly owns a ladder truck for the first time in 30 years. Additionally, each engine has been upgraded to provide higher level medical intervention, and an additional Rescue Squad has been implemented. The department also was rewarded a $2.1 million SAFER grant to recruit and retain staff.
The successful launch and near completion of a new fire station has been a major priority on Scott’s agenda. This multi-functional and aesthetically impressive building will benefit the firefighters and the community of Redford Twp. Scott’s goals for the future include increasing staffing to full strength, continuing to provide fire prevention educational programs to the residents and schools of Redford, and maintaining the high standard of quality care to Redford’s residents
