Lily Cavanagh has called Redford Township home since the early 2000s after relocating from San Diego, California, where she raised her children. The welcoming sense of community created by the residents, coupled with the convenient amenities within the Township's borders, are just a few reasons why Lily appreciates being a part of Redford Township.
Several years after moving to Redford, Lily was elected to the office of Redford Township Treasurer and has served in this office since 2008.
Before being elected Redford Township's Treasurer, Lily performed administrative assistant duties in the private sector, then later started a career in government with the Michigan State of Court of Appeals, serving in various roles, including the Assistant-to-the-Assistant Administrator and Records Clerk for twelve years.
One of Lily's priorities is to position Redford Township in a favorable light by being a good financial custodian for the citizens and businesses of Redford. Furthermore, she is committed to having the tax and water collection departments run efficiently and being customer focused for the betterment of Redford Township. Lily is a Trustee on the Police and Fire Retirement System Board.
Outside of her position as Treasurer, she gives back to the community by volunteering at many organizations. Lily is a member of the Wayne County Treasurer's Association and the Spanish Speaking Democrats. Also, she assists at Holy Trinity's Legal Clinic as a Spanish translator and volunteers at other non-profits throughout the year, such as Vista Maria and Goodfellows.
